“The Bathers” is a new work by Clement Joe Simonnet. Impressive by the medium on which it is painted, a large, four panel hangable screen, this work was inspired by the colours and ocean shimmers of Saint Jean de Luz in southern France. Outbursts of colour criss-cross each other on this majestic work, mirroring the wake of the ocean. One can, with a bit of imagination, make out the graceful figures of the bathers’ bodies, swaying in the waters.
